Clinical analysis and comparison of three operative methods for varicocele

Objective To study the effectiveness of different surgical methods for varicocele. Method Clinical records of 287 cases of high ligation in three methods (including laparoscopic, via-groin, and viaperitoneum for the spermatic vein between 2000 and 2008yr) were retrospectively analyzed. Result All the operations were performed successfully. There was significant difference in operation time between A and B or A and C. No significant difference was found between A,B and C in terms of postoperative recovering time and complication. Conclusion Laparoscopic high ligation for varicocele offers minimal invasion has the advantages such as good cosmetic results and satisfactory effects, is especially suitable for patients with bilateral varicocele, recurrent varicocele after surgery, and surgical history in the groin.
