Present Status and Suggestions on Water Quality Standard for Drinking Water Sources in China

Water quality standard for drinking water sources plays an important role in water environment evaluation and protection of drinking water sources. Some problems existing in water quality standard for drinking water sources in China, such as lack of law guarantee, indefinite competent department, lack of professional standard and water quality criteria research and so on were pointed out. Some shortages of Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water (GB 3838-2002) and Quality Standards for Groundwater (GB/T 14848-93) in standard system, index limit value, monitoring and evaluation, guarantee implementation and so on were analyzed. Suggestions on establishment of new water quality standard for drinking water sources in China were put forward.
