In the Pre_Qin period Yunnan was still a primitive society and lagged far behind other parts of the nation.But there occurred a big leap after its development during the Qin and Han dynasties.This paper reviews and studies the measures taken for the economic development in Yunnan during the Qin and Han dynasties.The historical and practical significance of the study to our government's west development program is obvious.
