Abstract
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Qixiananchang decoction on ulcerative colitis. Methods 54 patients with ulcerative colitis were divided into two groups. 36 patients in treatment group were treated by Qixiananchang decoction 200 mL each time, twice a day, decocted in water per os; 18 patients in control group were treated by Sulfasalazine, 1 g each time, 3 times a day, with a treatment course of one month for both groups. The therapeutic effects were evaluated after two treatment courses in both groups, observing the variation of IgA, IgG, IgM as well as the differences of clinical symptoms. Results The total effective rate in treatment group was 91.67%, which was 77.77% in control group, there was a significant difference between two groups(P0.01). There was significant differences in the improvement of clinical symptoms and signs after treatment between two groups (P0.05), and treatment group was superior to that of control group. After treatment IgA in treatment group was significantly decreased, as compared with that before treatment (P0.01), and there was significant differences after treatment between two groups (P0.01). The IgG in both group was significantly reduced after treatment, as compared with that before treatment (P0.05 or P0.01), furthermore, the decrease in treatment group was more obvious than that of control group (P0.01). Conclusion Qixiananchang decoction is effective in treatment on ulcerative colitis.
