Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the curative effect of external application of Traditional chinese medicine in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.METHODS From December 2008 to July 2009 in our hospital,76 patients of knee osteoarthritis were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, each of 38 cases, the control group was treated by intra-articular injection with sodium hyaluronate, the observation group was treated by external application of traditional Chinese medicine based on the control group, then the therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared and analyzed.RESULTS The total effective rate of observation group was 97.4% and 79.0% of the control group, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(χ2=6.1757,P0.05);the adverse reaction rate of observation group was 7.9% and 5.3% of the control group, the difference was not statistically significance(χ2=0.2141,P0.05).CONCLUSION External application of traditional chinese medicine in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis has satisfactory curative effect, with no obvious side effects,it is worthy to be promoted in clinics.
