Abstract

Objective To study the predictive value of plasma lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2(Lp-PLA2) in progressive cerebral infarction. Methods Plasma Lp-PLA2 levels were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in 168 patients with acute cerebral infarction(ACI) and 72 normal controls.ACI patients were scoring by the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS) every day.The added value of NIHSS score≥2 in ACI patients between 3 d and 1 d indicated progressive cerebral infarction(progressive cerebral infarction group),and it indicated stable cerebral infarction(stable cerebral infarction group) when the added value 2. Results The 40 cases were progressive cerebral infarction and 128 cases were stable cerebral infarction in 168 ACI patients. The level of plasma Lp-PLA2 in ACI group was significant higher than normal control group(P0.01);which in progressive cerebral infarction group was significant higher than normal control group and stable cerebral infarction group(all P0.01).There was no statistic difference between the stable cerebral infarction group and normal control group. Conclusions The level of plasma Lp-PLA2 is significant higher in progressive cerebral infarction patients, which may serve as a predictive biological indicator of progressive cerebral infarction in early stage.
