International Comparative Research of R&D Innovation Efficiency Based on SE-DEA and Malmquist Index

Abstract

This paper analyzes the efficiency of research and development among different countries based on super-efficiency Data Envelopment Analysis model by establishing the same indicator system in 2005.All countries are divided into different type of innovation by cluster analysis according to RD efficiency of detailed subdivision output.Malmquist index is calculated to analyze and research the changing situation of technological progress, technical and scale efficiency.The results show that The overall efficiency of RD in China is low, especially the third party patent efficiency which is significantly lower than invention-oriented countries like Germany, Japan and Korea.RD investment plays a positive role in increasing the addedvalue of Chinese high technology products as well as exportation.It is important to improve the RD efficiency, especially emphasis on strengthening technological progress.
