Abstract
In constructing the panel RD data of 5 high-tech industries from1998 to 2009,this paper constructs high-tech industries RD activities in the production frontier based on Malmquist Index and DEA Model, decomposing the RD efficiency growth into technological progress and technical efficiency change. The paper also investigates RD sources of growth and differentiation of high-tech industry. The results show that technological progress is the main driver of growth of RD efficiency for high-tech industries;from 1998 to 2009,the growth in the RD efficiency of Chinese high-tech industries is not stable, and in the three periods of 1998-1999,2004-2005 and 2008-2009,appears to be negative growth.
