The Clinical Research on Peripheral Neuropathy in Diabetes Mellitus Treated with Xiao Xianxiong Decoction

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Xiao Xianxiong Decoction on peripheral neuropathy in diabetes mellitus.Methods: 36 patients with peripheral neuropathy in diabetes mellitus were randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group,with 18 cases in each group. The patients in both groups were given scientific and reasonable dietary guidance,and insulin-centered glucose-lowering therapy. The patients in the control group were also given mecobalamin tablets for oral administration,0. 5 mg one time,three times a day; while the ones in the treatment group were added Xiao Xianxiong Decoction on the basic treatment of the control group,one dose a day. Both regarded 15 days as a course and were treated for 2 courses continuously. Blood sugar and lipid level of patients in both groups before and after the treatment were tested,and their sensory conduction speed and movement conduction speed of median nerve and peroneal nerve were also tested with EMG. Results: Before the treatment,blood sugar and lipid level between the two groups had no statistical meaning( P 0. 05); After the treatment,blood sugar and lipid level decreased than before the treatment,and the induced degree of the treatment group was more obvious,and their difference had statistical meaning( P 0. 05); Before the treatment,the differences in nerve conduction speed between two groups had no statistical meaning( P 0. 05); After the treatment,nerve conduction speed of both groups increased compared before the treatment,and the increased degree of the treatment group was more obvious,and their difference had statistical meaning( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Xiao Xianxiong Decoction can reduce blood sugar and lipid level of patients with peripheral neuropathy in diabetes mellitus,repair and regenerate nerve injury,improve nerve conduction speed,and has very good curative effect.
