Abstract

Objective To study the correlation between serum levels of homocysteine(Hcy) and essential hypertension(EH) and risk factors.Methods A total of 140 cases of patients with EH were selected as an observation group and 112 healthy persons as a control group.The serum levels of Hcy were measured,and the correlation between Hcy levels and EH was evaluated.Results The average serum level of Hcy in EH patients was significantly higher than that in the healthy persons(P0.01),and the higher the blood pressure,the higher the serum Hcy concentration.Conclusions Serum Hcy may be a risk factor of EH,and the measurement of serum Hcy level may have important clinical significance on the prevention and treatment monitoring of EH.
