Abstract
This paper calculates and analyzes Jiangxi's ecological footprint in 2004 based on the ecological footprint modal.It discovers that in 2004 the ecological footprint per capita in this province was 1.640 6 hm~2,the ecological capacity per capita was 0.767 2 hm~2 and the ecological deficit per capita reached 0.873 4 hm~2.All these indicate that Jiangxi is faced with unsustainable development.Apparent disparities exist among its 11 municipal cities in terms of ecological footprint,ecological carrying capacity,ecological deficit,ecological footprint utilization efficiency,ecological footprint diversity or developing capacity,among which the ecological deficit of developed areas are higher than that in less developed areas.Generally speaking,the resources are not ideally utilized and the economic development depends heavily on resource exhaustion.
