Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of metallothionein(MT) in renal pelvis carcinoma and its clinical significance. Methods The expression of MT in 36 cases of different-grade renal pelvis carcinoma and in 15 cases of normal renal pelvis were detected by immunohistochemical technique, and the relationship between MT and clinicopathological features and prognosis was analysed. Results The positive rate of MT expression in the 15 cases of normal renal pelvis was 6.7%(1/15),while the overall expression rate of MT in renal pelvis carcinoma was 52.8%(19/36).The difference was significant(P0.05).With the increase of tumor pathologic grades and clinical stages, expression of MT increased(P0.05).The survival rate was significantly different between positive-and negtive-MT groups(P0.05).Conclusion The expression of MT is significantly related to the development, progression and prognosis of renal pelvis carcinoma.
