Abstract

AIM To elucidate the correlation between p16 gene and tumor grade'stage、prognosis of renal pelvis carcinoma. METHODS Expression of p16 in 40 cases of renal pelvis carcinoma was detected by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS Total positive rate of p16 gene was 52.5%;the worse the grading and staging, the lower the presence of p16;There was a significant difference between p16 positive and negative cases in 3-year survival rate. CONCLUSION p16 gene plays an important role in suppressing the development of renal pelvis carcinoma and could be used as a predictor of malignant potentiality and prognosis.
