Abstract
Objective To study the influence of ground cherry's extraction on antioxidant ability in aging rats induced by D-galactose.Methods All 75 Wister male rats(6 weeks old) were randomly divided into five groups, including the young control group(group 1),model group(group 2),low-dose extraction group(10 mg/kg,group 3),middle-dose extraction group(15 mg/kg,group 4) and high-dose extraction group(20 mg/kg,group 5),besides other 15 Wister male rats(16 months old) were included in the old control group(group 6).The rats in group 2,3,4 and 5 were given injection of D-galactose for 5 months. After 5 months the contents of serum malonaldhydic acid(MDA) and liver MDA,activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and glutathion peroxidase(GSH-Px) in all groups were detected and compared. Results Compared with the young control group, the content of serum MDA,liver MDA were significantly increased(P0.01) and the activities of SOD and GSH-Px were significantly decreased(P0.01) in group 2,but those changes were as the same as those of group 6.The contents of serum MDA and liver MDA in group 3,4 and 5 were significantly decreased compared with those in group 2(P0.01),while the activities of SOD and GSH-Px were significantly increased(P0.01).Conclusion The extraction of ground cherry can increase the antioxidantive ability of rats in order to delay the consenescence induced by D-galactose.
