Abstract
Objective To observe the effects of soybeanisoflavone on serum levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD),malonyldialdehede (MDA), reduced glutathione hormone (GSH) and nitric oxide (NO) in rats with type 2 diabetes. Methods SD rats fed on high-fat diet for 4 weeks were given intraperitoneal injection of small-dose STZ to induce type two diabetes. These experimental models were then randomized into the usual diet control group, diabetes control group, 250 mg/kg and 50 mg/kg soybeanisoflavone groups. Levels of blood sugar were detected after 6 weeks and changes in serum levels of SOD, MDA, GSH and NO were detected after 10 weeks in each group. Results Compared with diabetes control group, the level of SOD increased significantly in 250 mg/kg soybeanisoflavone group (P0.05), while the level of MDA and NO decreased markedly(P0.05), and the level of serum GSH was elevated in 50 mg/kg soybeanisoflavone group (P0.05). Conclusion Soybeanisoflavone may improve antioxidation in rats with type two diabetes.
