Abstract
Objective To explore the DNA damage of brain cells of mice after formaldehyde exposure.(Methods)The mice were treated with gaseous formaldehyde at different concentrations(0.5 mg/m~3,1.0 mg/m~3 and 3.0 mg/m~3) for 72 hours.Single cell gel electrophoresis technique(comet assay) was used to test the DNA damage of the brain cells.(Results) Formaldehyde caused significant DNA strand-break at the concentration of 0.5 and 1.0 mg/m~3,while crosslinks were induced at 3.0 mg/m~3.Conclusion Formaldehyde was both a DNA strand-breaker and a crosslink-agent to the brain in vivo.
