Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of Zhitangshu(ZTS) on the superoxide dismutase(SOD) activivty and malondialdehyde(MDA) level in tissue of aged mice. Methods The aged model was induced by D-galactose,then they were treated intragastrically with ZTS at different doses(Ⅰgroup:5g·kg-1·d-1,Ⅱgroup:10g·kg-1·d-1)for six weeks.Other ten mice were used as control. At the end of sixth week, the SOD activity and MDA content in tissues of heart, liver, renal and brain of mice were mesaured. Results The activity of SOD was lower and the content of MDA was higher in aged model group than those in control group(P0.05 or P0.01);Compared with aged model group, the activities of SOD were increased and the contents of MDA in tissues of heart, liver and renal of mice were significantly reduced in low and high dose ZTS groups(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusion ZTS has an anti-aging effet by increasing SOD actirity and inhibiting tipid perosidation.
