Abstract
ObjectiveTo evaluate the timely efficacy of esmolol on paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia(PSVT). MethodsThe 38 PSVT patients were given intravenous esmolol. The blood pressure, ventricular heart rate and ECG were recorded, before and after medication, and the efficacy evaluated.ResultsThe efficacy rate of esmolol was 92%,and the reacting time was 1-56 min.The dosage of esmolol was 200 mg for most patients and a few were given 400 mg.Mild hypotension, nausea, dizzy, elongation of P-R interval or QTC interval occurred in some patients and relieved without any treatments. Conclusion Intravenous esmolol is effective and safe for PSVT.
