Abstract

Objective To investigate the monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1) gene-2518G/A genotype and gene frequency distribution of patients with cerebral infarction and its association with severity. Methods With the technique of polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP),148 cases of cerebral infarction and 130 normal persons were detected on MCP-1 genotype and gene frequency distribution. Results Genotypes frequency of GG,GA and AA in the group of cerebral infarction was 35%,46% and 19%.G and A allele frequencies were 58% and 42%,respectively.Genotypes frequency of GG,GA,AA in the group of control were 25%,38%,37%,while G,A allele frequencies were 44%,56%.Frequency of GG genotype and G allele in the group of cerebral infarction was significantly higher(P0.05) than control group.Different severity of cerebral infarction group,G,A allele frequency exist differences. In mild group,G,A allele frequencies were 47%,53%;while in severe group G,A allele frequencies were 72%,28%.In severe cerebral infarction group,G allele frequency was significantly higher than the mild group(P0.05).Conclusion G allele that is located in MCP-1 gene-2518G/A may be a susceptibility gene of cerebral infarction. The MCP-1-2518G allele may be associated with the severity of cerebral infarction.
