Effects of Trimetazidine on Cardiac Function and free radical metabolism in Rats with Ischemic Heart Failure

Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of trimetazidine on cardiac function in rats with ischemic heart failure.Methods We established ischemic heart failure rats by the left coronary artery ligation.30 rats after operation were separated randomized into 3 groups.Trimetazidine was given intervention within 24 hours after surgery in one group(TI group) and after 4 weeks in another group(TF group).The 3rd group was heart failure control group(F group).After 8 weeks we observed the cardiac index,hemodynamic changes of each groups compared with the sham group(S group),and SOD,MDA changes in each groups.Results Trimetazidine was significantly improved cardiac function compared to F group.and significantly aggrandized the activity of SOD,reduced content of MDA(P0.01).The improvement was more significant in TI group.Conclusion Trimetazidine can improve heart function in rats with ischemic heart failure,and the effect is more obvious in early stage.
