Analysis of laryngeal cancer incidence rate in Zhongshan City in 1970～1999

Objective To explore the incidence status of laryngeal cancer and its trend in Zhongshan between 1970 and 1999, and to provide scientific information for its prevention and treatment in Zhongshan. Methods Incidence data of laryngeal cancer in Zhongshan in 1970～1999 was collected and collated, which came from Zhongshan cancer registry. Number of incident cases, crude incidence rates, China- and world-standardized incidence rates were calculated and analyzed. Results Male, female and both world-standardized incidence rates in 1995～1999 in Zhongshan were 5.83/10 5、0.67/10 5、2.97/10 5 respectively. And there was obviously increasing trend for its incidence in Zhongshan in 1970～1999.Conclusion Although the incidence level of laryngeal cancer in Zhongshan was low in worldwide, its incidence rate was higher compared with those of China pilot rural areas in the corresponding time. It suggests that its prevention and treatment should been improved.
