Incidence analysis of liver cancer in Zhongshan,Guangdong in 1970～1999

Objective To study the incidence status of liver cancer in Zhongshan in 1970～1999,and to provider scientific information for liver cancer prevention and treatment in Zhongshan.Methods The liver cancer incidence data in 1970～1999 in Zhongshan which came from Zhongshan Cancer Registry was collected and collated.Such indices as its number of incident case,crude incidence rate,China-and world-standardized incidence rates were calculated and analyzed.Results In 1970～1999,there were 4,215 new liver cancer cases in Zhongshan.Its crude incidence rate,China-and world-standardized rates were 13 0/10 5,12 5/10 5、16 8/10 5 respectively during the period.There were no increasing or decreasing trends for its incidence rates in 1975～1994,but a declining tendency between 1995 and 1999. Conclusion The liver cancer incidence rate during the period in Zhongshan was moderate worldwide,but at middle-high level and at low level compared with urban and rural pilot areas in China at the corresponding time respectively.It suggests that the liver cancer prevention in Zhongshan should be improved.
