The clinical evaluation of corneal limbal stem cell autograft transplantation in the treatment of pterygium microsurgery

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of limbal stem cell autograft transplantation in the treatment of pterygium.Methods A total of seventy-eight eyes with pterygium were operated with transplantation of limbal stem cell.Postoperative reaction,graft vitality and recurrence of pterygium were observed.Results All cases were found with transient reaction,the grafts grew well and no recurrence was found during the following period up to 24 months.Conclusion Limbal stem cell transplantation has fairly good effect in the treatment of pterygium.
