Abstract

Objective To detect the expressions of FEZ1 and PCNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and to investigate clinical significance and analyze their correlation. Methods Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect FEZ1 and PCNA expressions in 100 cases of esophageal carcinoma and 100 cases of normal esophageal mucosa. Results The positive expression rate of FEZ1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was significantly lower than that in normal esophageal mucoma. The expression of FEZ1 was related with the depth of invasion and the metastasis of lymph node. The positive expression rate of PCNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was significantly higher than that in normal esophageal mucosa. In addition the expression of PCNA was related with degrees of differentiation and the depth of invasion and the metastasis of lymph node. The expression of FEZ1 had negative correlation with the expression of PCNA.Conclusion Loss of FEZ1 protein expression may be related with invasion and lymph node metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
