Abstract
Ming Dynasty was an important period for Yunnan's social and historical development. From this period onward until the Qing Dynasty, the education policy of worshipping Confucius and studying Confucian doctrines was implemented and tuition-free schools were set up everywhere, spreading Confucianism to outlying and minority inhabited areas. Both the Ming and the Qing dynasties saw the emergence of a great number of talented personnel, a phenomenon that was partly accounted for by the rapid social development then, and partly by economic and cultural achievements. The pattern of distribution of talented personnel that took shape then was the result of interactions between many different factors, including natural environment, social milieu, politics and economy.
