Treatment of 48 cases of ulcerative colitis by combined "Baitouweng Decoction" and western medicine

Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of combined Baitouweng Decoction and western medicine in the treatment of ulcerative colitis.Methods Ninety-six subjects were randomized into two groups: treatment group in which 48 cases were treated by Baitouweng Decoction,retention-enema and low-dose drugs,and control group in which 48 cases were treated by retention-enema and low-dose drugs,with a course of 8 weeks.Results The total effective rate was 91.67% in the treatment group and 77.08% in the control group,with a significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Combined Baitouweng Decoction,retention-enema and low-dose drugs is quite effective for ulcerative colitis.
