Isolation and Identification of NDV from Duck

Abstract
Two strains of viruses were isolated from the infected duck's livers using chicken embryos.The two strains of viruses could agglutinate the chicken,duck,sheep,goat,swine,human,rabbit and cattle erythrocytes.The hemagglutination of viruses could be inhibited by Newcastle disease virus(NDV) antiserum.The death time of chicken embryos(MDT) of the isolated strain of ZH1 was 52 h,the intraeerebral pathogenicity index(ICPI)of it in 1-day-old chicks was 1.93,the EID50 was 106.4/0.1 mL.The MDT,ICPI and EID50 of the isolated strain of ZH2 were 44 h,1.97 and 108.64/0.1 mL,respectively.The results indicated that the two viral isolates were virulent Newcastle disease virus(NDV).
