Comparision of therapeutic effects and cost-effectiveness analysis of matrine and α-interferon for chronic hepatitis B

Aim To compare the clinical and economical effects of matrine and α interferon in treating chronic hepatitis B.Method 80 cases randomly divided into two groups.Group A,matrine in a dose of 6 mg ,im,q.d.for 3 month Group B,α interferon in a dose of 3 million units,im,q,d for 3 months.The clinical effects were observed and evaluated with pharmacoeconomic cost effectiveness analysis.Result In improving symptoms and liver function ,two therapeutic regimes presented similar effect. But lower expenses were costed in unit effect of decreasing ALT in group A.In clearance of virus index, two therapeutic regimes presented similar effect,group A costed lower expenses in unit effect of HBeAg negative conversion.Conclusion Both matrine and α interferon presented fairly good therapetic effect for chronic hepatitis B.In improving liver functions and In antiviral efficary ,two preparations showed similar clinical effect but matrine presented better econmical effect.
