Comparison of cost-effectiveness between matrine and interferon in treatment of chronic hepatitis B.

Abstract
Objective To make pharmacoeconmics evaluation of matrine and Interferonα-1βin treatment of chronic hepatitis B and to offer optimum schedule for clinical treatment.Methods Sixty-three chronic hepatitis B patients were randomly divided in- to treatment and control groups.Though pharmacoeconmic cost-effectiveness analysis,the cost and efficacy of interferona-1βwas compared with matrine in treatment of 63 chronic hepatitis B.Results The effective rates of matrine and interferonα-1βwere 70.97% and 71.83%(P＞0.05);the cost-effectiveness ratios were 57.20 and 91.58 respectively(P＜0.05).cost-effective- ness ratios obtained by sensitivity analysis were 45.76 and 73.26 respectively.Conclusion Matrine is more economical than Inter- feronα-1βin treatment of chronic hepatitis B patients.
