Abstract

Objective To study the curative effect of carvedilol combined with telmisartan on refractory hypertension and its influence on glucose and lipid metabolism. Methods One hundred and thirty patients with refractory hypertension were enrolled and given carvedilol combined with telmisartan treatment. Blood pressure, glucose and lipid metabolism were detected one day before treatment and 28 days after treatment. Results After treatment, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, the levels of 2 h postprandial blood glucose( 2 h PG),fasting insulin( F Ins),2 h postprandial insulin( 2 h Ins),insulin resistance index( HOMA-IR) were lower than those before treatment; fasting blood glucose( FBG) and cholesterol( TC),triglyceride( TG),low densith lipoprotein( LDL),high densith lipoprotein( HDL),apolipoprotein A- Ⅰ( ApoA-Ⅰ),apolipoprotein B( ApoB) content had no significant difference compared with those before treatment. Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were positively correlated with the levels of 2 h PG,F Ins,2 h Ins and HOMA- IR. Conclusion Carvedilol combined with telmisartan have positive value for the treatment of refractory hypertension,as it can reduce the level of blood pressure, and improve blood glucose and insulin resistance.
