Abstract
Objective To investigate the correlation factor between the homocysteine(Hcy) levels and cerebrovascular disease(CVD) and make further evaluation to the role of Hcy in the onset, development of arterial stenosis. Methods Plasma Hcy level of cerebral infarction group, cerebral hemorrhage group and the normal control group were determined by fluorescence polarization immunoassay;the degree of angiostegnosis of the neck was determined by neck Doppler ultrasound. Results Hcy levels of cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage group were significantly higher than that of the normal control group, and Hcy levels increased with the increasing of stenosis degree. Conclusion Hyperhomocysteinemia is an important independent risk factor in cerebrovascular diseases and also an important risk factor for atherosclerosis.
