Abstract
Objective To understand the relationships between homocysteine(HCY) and cerebrovascular disease. Methods The HCY levels were measured in 75 patients with cerebral infarction at acute stage and convalescene and 30 patients with apoplexy by fluorescence polarization immunoanalysis(FPIA).Thirty patients among them were treated with medicine.Thirty healthy family members without cerebrovascular diseases were selected as control group. Results 1) HCY levels of blood plasma in the cases with cerebral infarction and apoplexy were significant higher than that of normal reference value(P0.05),there was no significant difference between control group and normal reference value.2) There was no difference in HCY level between cerebral infarction and apoplexy group(P0.05).3) There was no difference in HCY level at acute stage and convalescene in patients with cerebral infarction.4) Single factor correlation analysis indicated that HCY level had some associativity with sex,but not with age. Conclusions HCY levels of blood plasma in patients with cerebrovascular disease are obviously higher than normal reference value.HCY level is also higher in the family members of the patients with cerebrovascular diseases.Probably, higher HCY is correlated with homomethionin diet.HCY has no relation with stringent state as a nonactive index.HCY level can be strikingly reduced by short-term medicine and medium dosage treatment.
