Abstract
Objective:To explore the expression levels of CD44v6 and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) in patients with cervical carcinoma and the relationship between CD44v6 and MMP-9 and invasion and metastasis of cervical carcinoma.Methods:The expression levels of CD44v6 and MMP-9 in 10 cases with normal cervical tissues,18 cases with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN) and 37 cases with invasive cervical carcinoma were detected by immunohistochemical S-P method,the relationship between CD44v6 and MMP-9 and clinical pathologic characteristics of cervical carcinoma was analysed,and the correlation between CD44v6 and MMP-9 was explored.Results:The expression levels of CD44v6 and MMP-9 were the highest in invasive cervical carcinoma,higher in CIN and the lowest in normal cervical tissues;the expression levels of CD44v6 and MMP-9 in patients with lymphatic metastasis were significantly higher than those in patients without lymphatic metastasis(P0.05),and the expression levels of CD44v6 and MMP-9 in deep stromal involvement group were significantly higher than those in superficial stromal involvement group(P0.05);there was a positive correlation between CD44v6 and MMP-9 in cervical carcinoma,the probability of deep stromal involvement and lymphatic metastasis in patients with co-expression of CD44v6 and MMP-9 was higher than that in patients with positive CD44v6 or positive MMP-9 or negative CD44v6 and MMP-9.Conclusion:The positive rates of CD44v6 and MMP-9 increase gradually with the progress of normal cervical tissues-CIN-invasive cervical carcinoma.The overexpression of CD44v6 and MMP-9 are related to invasion of cervical carcinoma and lymphatic metastasis,and their functions are synergistic and interdependent.
