The Expression and Clinical Significance of CD147 and MMP-2 in Cervical Cancer

Abstract

Objective:To study the expression and clinical significance of CD147 and MMP-2 in cervical cancer. Methods:The expression levels of CD147 and MMP-2 were detected and analysed using immunohistochemical SP method in 20 samples of normal cervical tissue,21 samples of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN),and 59 samples of cervical cancer. Results:CD147 and MMP-2 were expressed mainly in cancerous lesions,and also expressed in some normal tissues. The expression levels of CD147 and MMP-2 were significantly higher in cancer group than those of normal cervical group and CIN group (P 0.05). The positive expression rates of CD147 and MMP-2 were 91.5% and 80.0%. The expression of CD147 in cervical cancer was related with lymphatic metastasis ( χ2 = 4.138,P 0.05),but not related with age,clinical stage,gross type,the degree of differentiation and histological types (P 0.05). The expression of MMP-2 was related with clinical stage ( χ2 = 9.423,P 0.05) and lymphatic metastasis ( χ2 = 5.019,P 0.05),not related with age,gross type,the degree of differentiation and histological types (P 0.05). The relationship between CD147 and MMP-2 was positively correlated in the cervical cancer (P 0.05). Conclusion:CD147 and MMP-2 play an important role in invasion and metastasis of the cervical cancer. Combined detection of CD147 and MMP-2 may be a new target for cancer diagnosis to assess the severity of cervical cancer.
