Abstract

The restorer line- J142 is a progeny selected from the cross of indica restorer line Gui 99/ American long grain japonica rice // a wide compatible line 275. It is characterized by strong restoring ability, good general combining ability, ideal plant type, good diseased resistance, fine grain quality and large pollen load. The crosses between J142 and Xiang125S and IR58025A produced higher grain yield over the check Teyou 63 by 5.33% and 9.10%, respectively, and showed better grain quality, too.
