Abstract

Purpose: To assess the therapeutic effect of the endovascular embolization with Guglielmi detachable coils in intracranial aneurysm.Materals and Methods: 66 intracranial aneurysms were confirmed in 65 patients by CT and DSA. Guglielmi detachable coils through Tracker-10 or Tracker-18microcatheter were used for embolism with intracranial aneurysms. All patients were under neuroleptanesthesia and general heparinization,The operations were completed under the DSA monitoring. Results: The size of 66 aneuryms was 3.5mm 3.8mm to 5.4mm 4.5mm.The aneurysms were successfully embolized with Guglielmi detachable coils in 64 patients(97%).Two cases were failed to be blocked due to arterial spasm(3%). Total occlusion was achieved in 48 aneurysms(72.7%),over 95% in 9 aneurysms (13.6%); 90% in 3 aneurysms(10.6%).The patients were followed-up for 3 to 24 months, no rebleed was happened. Conclusion: Endovasculai embolization with Guglielmi detachable coils for the treatment of intracranial aneurysm is a micro-traumatic,safe,effective and reliable.
