Expressions and Significance of HER-2 and COX-2 in Human Gastric Carcinoma

Objective:To investigate the expressions of HER-2 and COX-2 in human gastric carcinoma and to study the relationship among them and the clinicopathological factors of gastric carcinoma.Methods:The Envision immunohistochemical stain method was used to detect HER-2 and COX-2 protein expressions in sample of 70 gastric carcinoma tissues and 40 cases of normal gastric tissues.And their corresponding clinical data were analyzed retrospectively.Results:(1)The positive rate of HER-2 protein was 27.1%in gastric carcinoma tissues and 5%in normal gastric tissues.The positive rate of COX-2 protein was 67.1%in gastric carcinoma tissues and 22.5%in normal gastric tissues.There existed significant difference between the two groups(P0.05,P0.01).(2)The positive expression rates of HER-2 and COX-2 protein in gastric carcinoma tissue were closely relevant to the differentiation of the carcinoma,invasion depth,lymphatic metastasis and TNM(P0.05),but not to the patient's sex,age,tumor site and size(P0.05).(3)There was a stable positive correlation between HER-2 and COX-2 expressions in gastric carcinoma tissues.Conclusion:HER-2 and COX-2 expressions participate in the development,invasion and metastasis process of gastric carcinoma.They play a key role in the prognosis of gastric carcinoma.
