Analysis of the Medical Expenses of 10 Diseases Inpatients With Factor Analysis Method

Objective To explore the main controlling factors of the medical expenses of 10 diseases inpatients to provide the rational gist of controlling the overage rise of the medical expense. Method 2 238 cases of the 10 diseases in two tertiary hospitals between 2002 and 2005 are selected into the sample. The medical expenses of the inpatients are analyzed by the factor analysis method. Results Factors of diagnosis, bed occupation, medicine and laboratory test, operation and anaesthesia, blood transfusion and nursing, oxygen therapy and material, examination, treatment are the six public factors influencing medical expenses. Conclusion medicine expenses, laboratory test expenses and treatment expenses must be especially decreased in controlling the overage rise of the medical expenses.
