Analysis of medical expenses of the systematic diseases in order inpatients proportions with factor method

Objective To probe into certain factors influencing the changes of inpatients′ medical expenses of diseases in order to control the unreasonable increase of medical expenses. Methods Selecting the first 10 systematic diseases in order of inpatient in a grade A tertiary hospital in 2004 as sample, and using factorial analysis to discuss medical expenses of inpatients. Results Factors of medicine treatment, examination and laboratory test, operation, treatment and bed occupation, radiation examination, blood transfusion are the four public factors influencing medical expenses. Conclusion Medicine expenses, examination expenses and laboratory test expenses must be especially decreased in controlling the unreasonable increase of medical expense.
