Abstract

Purpose To observe the relationship between portal pressure and the expression of HO-CO system in liver of patients with hepatic cirrhosis and the effect on portal hypertension in hepatic cirrhosis. Methods Twenty normal volunteers and 20 patients with hepatic cirrhosis were randomly selected under the direction of B-ultrasonic equipment and percutaneous liver puncture was performed to test portal pressure, to drain blood from peripheral vein and portal vein and liver tissue was taken in order to test the density of CO in blood. The expression of HO-1、HO-1mRNA of liver was measured by RT-PCR. Results The density of CO in peripheral and portal vein blood, expression of HO-1 and HO-1mRNA in the patients was significantly higher than it was in control group. Comparing with control group, there was no obvious difference in CO density between peripheral and portal vein blood; but to patients, the latter was significantly higher than the former. Conclusions The portal pressure was closely related to CO density in portal vein, expression of HO-1 and HO-1mRNA in liver tissue of patients.
