A Probe into the Creative Treason in Literary Translation

In traditional views of translation, fait hfulness is regarded as the highest standard of translation. However, it is impossible to achieve absolute faithfulness. Treason exists widely in translation, especially in literary translation. Based on the definition and necessity of creative treason in literary translation, taking Pound's translation and related thoughts as a case analysis, this paper mainly quests the positive impact of creative treason on the development of target language literature and the spread of target culture. The relationship between faithfulness and treason should be repositioned on the all-round understanding of fidelity.
