On "Creative Treason" in Literary Translation

Classic translation theories emphasize faithfulness to original texts.However,cultural differences,translators,demand of changing ages inevitably contribute to betrayal,treason of translation from the original —hence Creative occurs frequently in translating literary works.Creation is defined as translator's effort to resemble the original with his artistic talent,and Treason comes from that effort.The thesis studies the necessity of creative treason in literary translation from two aspects: cultural differences between English and Chinese and context of target language reader.
