Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To determine clinical significance and expression of cell-cycle regulator p27 protein in laryngeal carcinoma.METHODS:p27 protein in 41 cases of laryngeal carcinoma tissues was detected by the immunohistochmical SP method, and 12 cases of pericarcinoma tissues were used as control.RESULTS:The positive expression rate of p27 protein was 26.8%(11/41) in laryngeal carcinoma tissues and 58.3%(7/12) in pericarcinoma tissues, and there was a significant difference,P0.05.The positive expression rate of p27 protein did not show significant differences with different sex, age, course of disease, tumor sites and TNM stages,P0.05,but there was a were significant difference among pathological stages of laryngeal cacinoma tissues,P0.01.The positive expression rate of p27 protein was correlation in laryngeal carcinoma patients with smoking and drinking,P0.05,but was not correlation in laryngeal carcinoma patients with or without lymph node metastasis.CONCLUSIONS:The p27 protein might play an important role in the development and progression of laryngeal carcinoma and shoud be used as an important reference marker of malignant degree of laryngeal carcinoma.
