Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of survivin in non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods: We choosed 51 NSCLC patients cancer tissues samples,21 paracancerous tissues and 11 benign lesion of lungwho underwent curative surgical resections to detect survivin expression by immunohistochemistry(IHC).The relationship between detected data and patients' clinical parameters was analyzed with SPSS 13.0 software. Results: The positive immuno-staining of survivin was mainly located in cytoplasm and/or nucleus of NSCLC.There was a statistical significance in positive expression rate of survivin among NSCLC tissues, paracancerous tissues and benign lesion of lung(P0.001),which the expression of survivin in NSCLC tissues(76.5%,39/51) was strongly higher than paracancerous tissues(19.0%,4/21)(P=0.000).We also found the expression of survivin was only correlated with differentiation of tumor(P0.05),and there wasn't a statistical significance in survivin survival curve and hazard curve of recurrence or metastasis(P0.05).Multivariate COX regression model demonstrated that the clinical stage and the status of recurrence or metastasis in tumors might be considered as two independent prognostic factors in patients' survival. Conclusion: Survivin might play a important role in the origin and progress of NSCLC,but might not be deemed as a factor about prognosis and recurrence or metastasis of NSCLC.
