Expression of Survivin and its Relationship with Clinicopathological Features in theNon-Small Cell Lung Carcinoma

Objective To study the expression of Survivin and its relationship with clinicopathological features in the non-small cell lung carcinoma(NSCLC).Methods The expression of Survivin were tested by immunohistochmistry in the specimens of 100 cases of NSCLC.10 stomach cancer samples with documented Survivin(+) and 10 samples of normal lung tissue were taken as positive and negative controls.Non-immune rabbit serum and PBS were used to replace Survivin as substitute and sham controls.The relationship between the expression of Survivin and the age,sex,histological types,differentiation,p-TNM stage,lymph nodes metastases,survival time was analysed by using the χ~2 test.Results The expression rate of survivin in NSCLC was 63.0%(63/100).The expression of survivin was significantly associated with p-TNM stage?survival time and lymph nodal metastases(P0.01),but not with age?sex?histologic subtype,differentiation(P0.05).Conclusion Patients with Survivin(+) NSCLC have a poor prognosis.The expression of survivin could be taken as one of the prognostic factors for lung cancer.
