Abstract
Objective To explore the efficacy and effects on blood glucose and blood lipid of different fixed dose of chlorpromazine in treatment of schizophrenia. Methods 50 subjects in low dose(400mg/d) and 46 subjects in high dose(400mg/d) were treated for 8 weeks.Clinical efficacy were assessed with the positive and negative syndrome scale(PANSS),blood glucose and blood lipid on an empty stomach was assessed prior and after 2,4,8 weeks treatment. Results No difference was found between the two groups in total, positive and negative of the PANSS after 8 weeks treatment and the effect-acting period(P0.05).At the ends of 8th week of treatment, the level of total cholesterol(TC) in low-dose group were higher than prior(P0.05).At the ends of 8th week of treatment, the level of blood glucose, triglyceride(TG) and total cholesterol(TC) in high-dose group were higher than prior(P0.05).Conclusion Chlorpromazine in therapeutic doses range,no difference was found between low-dose and high-dose in efficacy and the effect-acting period.Chlorpromazine can cause high blood glucose and blood lipid,high-dose faster and more serious.
