The significance of platelet parameters measurement in pregnancy thrombocytopenia

Abstract

Objective To investigate the detection value of platelet parameters including platelet counts(PLT),mean platelet volume(MPV)and platelet distrbution width(PDW)in pregnancy thrombocytopenia.Methods 276 cases of pregnant women complicated with thrombocytop-enia in our hospital were studied retrospectively.Results Compared with those of the control pregnant women group,in idiopathic thrombocytopenic(ITP),the amount of PLT decreased significantly(P0.01),while MPV and PDW increased(P0.05);In pregnancy associated thrombocytopenia(PAT),the amount of PLT decreased significantly(P0.01),while MPV and PDW didn't change significantly(P0.05);In patients with pregnancy induced hypertension(PIH)was found no difference in PLT(P0.05),while MPV and PDW increased(P0.05);In the pregnant patients with livers injury,the amount of PLT and MPV decreased(P0.05),while PDW didn't change significantly(P0.05).Conclusion PLT MPV and PDW are very useful param-eters for differential diagnosis of pregnancy thrombocytopenia.
