Abstract
Objective To reveal the formaldehyde pollution of indoor air in the decorative rooms and its influential factor in Zhuzhou City. Methods Seventy-three decorated and 10 non-decorated rooms were randomly selected to detect the concentration of formaldehyde in indoor air when their doors and windows were opened and closed respectively. The formaldehyde was measured by the method of acetyl acetone with spectrophotometer. To analyze the effect of ornamental material category, decorated time and indoor ventilation condition on indoor air formaldehyde pollution. Results Altogether 47 of 73 decorative rooms did not meet the hygienic standard, the rate above sanitary standard of formaldehyde was 64.4%.With the time prolonged after decoration, the concentration of formaldehyde was gradually degraded and the over standard rate declined. The concentration of formaldehyde in the rooms decorated with the artificial panels was significantly higher than that in the room decorated with the real wood(P0.05).There was significant difference in the concentration of formaldehyde of indoor air before and after ventilation(P0.05). Conclusions The indoor air pollution of formaldehyde in newly decorated rooms is severe. The decorating materials, furniture and the indoor ventilated condition are the main influential factors of indoor air formaldehyde1 pollution.
