Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of phacoemulsification on senile cataract and to evaluate the therapeutic effects of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens(IOL)implantation. Methods The phaco- emulsification and intraocular lens(IOL)implantation with both hands were performed on 9 240 eyes of 9 025 patients (age range,45~101).After follow-up for 2 weeks~12 months, the therapeutic effect was observed. Results The 8 942 eyes without eye fundus disease among 9 240 eyes were observed.8 755 eyes(97.91%)reached the vision of 0.5 and 7 315 eyes(81.81%)reached the vision of 1.0.The complications after operation and in operation were re- duced evidently with the accumulation of the experience. Conclusion The phacoemulsification and inlraocular lens implantation have the advantages of reducing early postoperative reaction and improving rapidly the vision. The phacoe- mulsification and intraocular lens implantation with both hands nay get hatter therapeutic effect.
