Abstract
Objective: To observe the therapeutic efficacy, safety and to lerability of Topiramate(TPM) as adjunctive therapy in adults with partial epilepsy. Methods:TPM as adjunctive therapy in 30 patients for 20 weeks, the first 8 weeks for titration phase, the last 12 weeks for stabilization phase.we recored the seizure frequency, dose situtation et al.before the treatmentand as the contrast.TPM stating dose was 25mg/d and then increased 25mg/d each week until the effective dose was 200mg/d of maintain therapy. The blood concentration of the AEDS blood compared before and after the treatment, and to observe the effectiveness and bad reaction were found. Results:After TPM adjunctive therapy for 20 weeks,as compared with the seizure frequencies in baseline phase, the seizure frequencies of 66.67% cases were reduced≥50%;the seizure frequencies of 26.67% cases≥75%≤100%;16.67% cases were totally controlled.Bad reaction were from mild to moderate, but it related to the dosage of AEDS.The effects of the blood concentration weren't great on TPM to the dose of AEDS.Conclusion:TPM is a safe, effective drug for treatiing adult patients with partial epilepsy.
